Michael J. Sykes,

Mike began working in the mechanical field with his father, Frank, at the age of 14. He became the youngest person to attend and successfully complete the Lennox training school at age 15. While in the United States Marine Corps, he completed courses in electric and electronic control systems. Mike has completed professional courses in building mechanical systems design, installation, maintenance and repair sponsored by Lennox Industries, Trane Company, Carrier Corporation, Liebert, Staefa Controls and others. He also has extensive knowledge and experience in the design and evaluation of HVAC controls and has worked with systems of up to 1,500 tons capacity.

Lance Dutcher, President / Senior Commercial Projects Specialist

Lance joined the Mike's Heating and Air team in 1997 and is involved in numerous capacities. He started out as a sheet metal apprentice and received his Area 1 sheet Metal Journeyman Card and a diploma from Chemeketa in 2001 after completing the four-year apprenticeship. Lance worked ten years in the field installing equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial applications serving as the foreman/project manager for six of those years on commercial projects. Lance is currently the senior commercial project representative and general manager. He provides estimates on all types of HVAC installation and services.

Joslynn Starkey, Office Manager

Joslynn joined the team at Mike's Heating and Air in 2015 as the service administrator/dispatcher. In 2016, Joslynn was given the opportunity to be the office manager and is involved in the company’s current and future goals. Joslynn worked for a research company for 8 years as their facility manager for their Tangent branch and has a lot of training and background in a management role. Joslynn managed not only the Tangent branch while with the research company but also oversaw the research company’s Pocatello & Rexburg branches in Idaho. Joslynn oversees the office staff and administrators at Mike's Heating and Air and also assists the general manager and Mike Sykes with daily appointments, customers and projects.

Denton Hempstead, Senior Residential Projects Specialist

Denton has almost 30 years’ experience in the heating and air conditioning business. He graduated from Walla Walla University in 1979 in the mechanical field. By 1986, Denton went into the heating and air conditioning area receiving journeyman status from Chemeketa Community College in 1991. He joined Mike's Heating and Air in 1996. Denton’s knowledge of design, fabrication, and installation makes him excellent as our senior residential representative. He is able to match the customer’s needs to the best heating and cooling system options available.

Diego Long, Commercial Projects Specialist

Beginning at age 13, Diego has almost 30 years’ experience in the HVAC industry. He started in his uncle’s shop as a helper and apprentice. In the fall of 1994, Diego began his apprenticeship at Chemeketa Community College. He graduated from the apprenticeship program receiving journeyman status in 1998. Diego has worked for companies in Salem and Corvallis before coming to Mike's Heating and Air. His experience in the field includes commercial, light industrial, and residential installations, and in the office working as a retrofit and new construction sales consultant and a specialty sales and commercial representative.
