Ducts are the most common method for venting air in most homes. If your home has no ductwork, you’ll need to find a different way to cool your home. For example, suppose you’re not connected to ductwork but would like cooler air flowing through your rooms. In that case, you can install an evaporative cooler – an outdoor unit that uses the humidity in the air around it to cool the room. Or, you can use a dehumidifier that pulls moisture from the air and releases it into a drain or water tank. Your best option, however, is a ductless air conditioner. Read on to find out more about ductless air conditioners.
An Overview of Ductless Air Conditioners
A ductless AC is an air conditioning unit that does not require ducts. It is installed directly in the room. The unit draws hot or cold air from outside and distributes it into the room. Ductless ACs have many advantages over central air conditioning systems. They’re cheaper, more efficient, and can be installed in a smaller space. Besides, they’re quieter than other types of air conditioners. If you’re in Albany or the surrounding areas, our NATE-certified technicians will handle any of your ductless AC jobs immediately.
Types of Ductless Air Conditioners
There are three types of ductless air conditioners – window units, mini-split systems, and split-system units. Window units are the simplest type of ductless air conditioners. They are stand-alone units that draw air from outside and distribute it into the room. They are usually mounted on the wall or ceiling of the home, but some styles can be mounted on windowsills.
Mini-split systems are similar to window units but are mounted on the wall, with an air conditioner also installed in a window. Split-system units have both a high-efficiency air conditioner and a condenser unit located outside the home.
